This repair process if sometimes called roof repointing. On a pitched roof is it normal for the mortar in the joints to become defective. This is normally down to weathering, exposure to the elements and general wear. The process of roof pointing involves removing the damaged mortar and then replacing it with new mortar. Once this is done it secures the tile or tiles in place providing effective waterproofing for the roof and building below.
